For Referring Physicians

Referral information.

Optometrists & primary care physicians

Dr. Thornton accepts referrals for eye disease evaluation, surgical consultation, and complex cases across all five practice locations.

Please contact the medical center nearest the patient’s residence for referral guidelines, documentation requirements, and scheduling coordination. Each partnership manages its own intake workflow, which allows the fastest turnaround for your patient.

For neuro-ophthalmology referrals — which often involve unusual or previously undiagnosed conditions — the Truhlsen Eye Institute at Nebraska Medicine is the primary referral pathway.

A Note on Access

Access to excellent eye care shouldn’t depend on geography. That’s why I built this schedule — so a patient in Omaha, or Harlan, or Onawa doesn’t have to drive to Omaha to be seen by a fellowship-trained surgeon.
